How do I deposit funds into my account?
Your PennTrade account can be funded by: personal check, wire transfer, ACH or an account transfer from another brokerage.
 
If you are interested in the ACH service, please complete the ACH Application (found here) and email it to us at [email protected] or fax it to (503) 837-8859. A voided check is also required. Once your application is approved (2-3 days) please send a secure email each time you would like a transaction processed.
 
Important: please make checks out to RBC (RBC Correspondent Services, a division of RBC Capital Markets, LLC, Member NYSE/FINRA/SIPC is our clearing firm and regulations require this)

How do I wire transfer funds to my PennTrade account?
How do I wire transfer funds to my PennTrade account? You will need the following information to wire funds:

For Further Credit: "Acount Name & 8-digit RBC Account #"

Note: U.S. dollar funds received prior to 6:00 p.m. ET using the above instructions and proper 8-digit account number will be credited the same business day.

SWIFT CODE: USBKUS44IMT (only required for wires originating from outside the US)

YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER IS 8 DIGITS AND CRITICAL TO INCLUDE WHEN WIRING FUNDS TO YOUR ACCOUNT.
A missing or incorrect account number will result in a rejected wire transfer.

How do I wire transfer funds to my bank account?
To maximize your security, login to your account and click on the "Contact Us" link inside the "Help" folder. This sends a secure email to the PennTrade staff. Please DO NOT send regular email with your wiring instructions.

Note that names must match on the brokerage account and the bank account. Third party wires are not permitted by regulation, and in any event are easily misdirected.

A. If you want to wire funds to a United States bank, please complete the domestic wire form (found here) and either fax it to us at (503) 837-8859 or email it to [email protected]; you will need the following information:

  1. Your bank's name and address
  2. Your bank's ABA routing number
  3. The amount you want wired
  4. Your account name and number at the bank

B. If you want to wire funds to a foreign bank, note that we are not allowed to wire funds directly to foreign banks via the SWIFT system. Regulations related to the Patriot Act require that all international wires must first be directed through a US-based intermediary bank (for example, Citibank or Chase).

If you want to wire funds to a foreign bank, please complete the foreign wire form (found here) and either fax it to us at (503) 837-8859 or email it to [email protected]; you will need the following information:

  1. The name and address of US intermediary bank
  2. The US intermediary bank's ABA routing number
  3. The foreign bank's name and address and either its SWIFT CODE or its account number at the US intermediary bank
  4. The amount you want wired
  5. Your account name and number at the bank

Where do I send deposits and to whom do I make checks payable?
Regulations require that checks be made payable to "RBC", our clearing corporation. We cannot accept checks made payable to Paulson or PennTrade.

How do I transfer securities from my existing brokerage?
To fully or partially transfer an account, you will need to download our Transfer of Assets form by clicking here. Please complete and sign this form and return the originally signed form along with a complete copy of your most recent statement from your other brokerage. Be sure, for PARTIAL transfers, to indicate the positions and/or cash to be transferred.

How do I know that PennTrade has received my funds?
After you log into your PennTrade account, you can click on the "Balance" folder. Funds deposited into your account will displayed on this page.

How do I withdraw funds from my PennTrade account?
After you log into your PennTrade account under the "Viewing and Trading" log-in level, you will see "Contact Us" on the left hand side of your screen. Use this interface to request funds. Simply tell us what account and what amount.

Please note: you must be logged in at the "Viewing and Trading" level to use this feature.

Does PennTrade offer check writing?
Yes, we offer checkwriting service. A $5,000 initial cash balance (not stocks) is required to receive checking privileges. If you want check-writing privileges, contact us.

How are dividends credited to my account?
By default, Dividends are credited to your PennTrade balance. If you would like your Dividends mailed to you (in the form of a check) please contact us to make the request.

How do I request a distribution from my PennTrade IRA account?

  1. You may request a one-time distribution from your IRA account using the One Time Distribution Form. A one-time distribution form would be used for any IRA distribution that you do not wish to have recur automatically. Fill this in, sign it and mail it to PennTrade, Attn: IRA Dist.
  2. You may request a periodic distribution from your IRA account using the Periodic Distribution Form. A Periodic distribution form would be used for any IRA distribution that needs to recur automatically at regular intervals throughout the year. Fill this in, sign it and mail the originally signed form to PennTrade, Attn: IRA Dist.

How do I make a contribution to my PennTrade IRA account?
IRA Contributions can be made in the form of a personal check, made payable to RBC, with the year of the contribution clearly written in the memo section of the check. If this is missing, the contribution will be credited for the current year.
